1894

• Kakuko Asakawa Shoten, a wholesaler of pharmaceuticals, is founded in Tokyo, Japan by Mr. Kobei Asakawa.

1946

• The company name changes to Tokyo Kasei Kogyo Co., Ltd. with a concentration in manufacturing and marketing organic laboratory chemicals.

1952

• Tokyo Kasei Kogyo Co. issues the first catalog.

1966

• Tokyo Kasei Kogyo Co., Ltd. opens a factory in Fukaya, Japan to expand production capacity.

1985

• American Tokyo Kasei Inc. (now TCI America) opens in Portland, Oregon.

1989

• The Oregon Research Center (ORC) in Portland, Oregon opens to develop new and innovative reagents.

1993

• Tokyo Kasei Kogyo Co., Ltd. opens a repacking center in Tsukuba, Japan.

1997

• TCI opens a sales office in New York, N.Y., to support customers on the East Coast.

1999

• TCI MAIL (Our quarterly journal featuring the latest breakthroughs) is first published.
• TCI Europe N. V. is established in Antwerp, Belgium.

2002

• Our Fukaya factory is certified for ISO9001:2000 (JQA-QM8374) and IQ Net (JP-JQA-QM8374)
• Tokyo Kasei Kogyo Co., Ltd. opens a distribution center in Kawaguchi, Japan.
• TCI (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is established in Shanghai, China.

2003

• TCI relocates East Coast sales office to Waltham, Massachusetts.

2005

• TCI (Shanghai) Development Co., Ltd. is established in Shanghai, China.

2006

• Tokyo Kasei Kogyo Co., Ltd. changes the company name to Tokyo Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.
• TCI Deutschland GmbH is established in Frankfurt, Germany.
• Our Fukaya factory is certified for ISO14001:2004 (JQA-EM5386) and IQ Net (JP-JQA-EM5386).

2007

• Tokyo Chemical Industry UK Ltd. is established in Oxford, United Kingdom.

2008

• TCI Chemicals (India) Pvt. Ltd. is established in Chennai, India.

2010

• Seiichiro Asakawa is appointed President and CEO.
• Koji Asakawa is appointed Chairman.

2011

• Distribution center opens in Tianjin, China.
• Branch office opens in Beijing, China.

2012

• East Coast warehouse and distribution center opens in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
• Branch office opens in Pudong, China

2013

• Distribution center opens in MEPZ-SEZ, Chennai, India.

2014

• TCI relocates East Coast team to Cambridge, Massachusetts to better serve the biotechnology and academic community.  

2017

• TCI launches a new GMP facility for Custom Synthesis in Fukaya, Japan.

2019

• Distribution center opens in Hyderabad, India.

2020

• Naoyuki Asakawa is appointed President and CEO.
• Seiichiro Asakawa is appointed Chairman.
• Koji Asakawa is appointed Counselor.
