Cefepime: A Fourth-Generation Cephalosporin Antibacterial Agent
Cefepime (dihydrochloride monohydrate) is a fourth-generation cephalosporin that acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. In common with other β-lactam agents, cefepime exerts its antibacterial effects by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). Cefepime exhibits broad-spectrum in vitro activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Cefepime is highly resistant to hydrolysis by most beta-lactamases and rapidly penetrates Gram-negative bacterial cells. (The product is for research use only.)
