Application
Mizoribine: An Imidazole Nucleoside Immunosuppressive and Antiviral Agent
Mizoribine (bredinin, MZR), an imidazole nucleoside, is an immunosuppressive and an antiviral agent. The immunosuppressive effect of mizoribine has been reported to be due to the inhibition of de novo guanosine synthesis, via inhibition of inosine-5'-monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH).1-4) On the other hand, the combination of mizoribine and interferon (IFN)-α have been reported to show antiviral activities. The mechanisms of action would appear that mizoribine inhibits virus RNA replication based on the depletion of the intracellular pool of guanosine nucleotides by IMPDH inhibition.5-7) In addition, mizoribine has been reported to its anti-coronavirus activity.８) (The product is for research purpose only.)
