Zerumbone: A Monocyclic Sesquiterpene with Multiple Biological Activities
Zerumbone is a monocyclic sesquiterpene first isolated from rhizomes of wild ginger (Zingiber zerumbet Smith), which has been used locally in horticulture and folk medicine. Zerumbone has been found to possess multiple biological properties such as antiproliferative, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activities.1-3) In addition, zerumbone inhibits the Hedgehog/GLI (Hh/GLI) signaling pathway and induces apoptosis in cancer cell lines.4,5) (The product is for research purpose only.)
