Ferrostatin-1: A Potent and Selective Inhibitor of Ferroptosis
Ferrostatin-1 is a potent and selective inhibitor of ferroptosis which is a form of regulated, oxidative, non-apoptotic cell death. Ferroptosis is characterized by iron-dependent accumulation of reactive oxygen species in lipids and depletion of polyunsaturated fatty acids in cell membranes.1,2) Ferroptosis can be triggered by small molecules or conditions that inhibit glutathione biosynthesis or the glutathione-dependent antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4).3,4) (The product is for research purpose only.)
