Mesna: A Prophylactic Agent for Side effects of Oxazophosphorine Antitumor Alkylating Agents
Sodium 2-mercaptoethanesulfonate (Mesna) is a prophylactic agent for side effects of oxazophosphorine antitumor alkylating agents such as cyclophosphamide [C2236] and ifosfamide. Mesna binds to the toxic metabolites (the 4-hydroxy metabolite or acrolein) of them in the urine, and reduce the incidence of hemorrhagic cystitis and bladder cancer. (The product is for research purpose only.)
