Application
Retapamulin: A Semi-Synthetic Derivative of the Naturally Occurring Antibiotic Pleuromutilin

Retapamulin (SB-275833) is a semi-synthetic derivative of the naturally occurring pleuromutilin produced by Pleurotus mutilus, an edible mushroom. Retapamulin inhibits bacterial protein biosynthesis in Staphylococcus aureus organisms by inhibiting translation and formation of the 50S ribosomal subunit in cells.
