Application
Oseltamivir: A Prodrug of a Selective Inhibitor of Influenza Virus Neuraminidase
Oseltamivir (GS 4104) is an ethyl ester prodrug that is rapidly converted by hepatic esterases into the active metabolite oseltamivir carboxylate (Ro64-0802), a selective inhibitor of influenza virus neuraminidase affecting release of viral particles from infected host cells.1,2) Recently, oseltamivir has also been reported to have several pharmacological actions including blocking of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor channels and activation of the dopaminergic system.3) (The product is for research purpose only.)
