5β-Pregnan-3α-ol-20-one (or pregnanolone) and its stereoisomer, 3β-hydroxy-5α-pregnan-20-one [H1839], are metabolites of the ovarian/adrenal steroid progesterone [P0478].1) These metabolites are endogenous neuroactive steroids that act as a positive allosteric modulator (PAM) of γ-aminobutyric acid A (GABAA) receptors with anesthetic, anxiolytic, and anti-convulsant effects.2,3) (The product is for research purpose only.)
