Oxybutynin chloride: A Muscarinic Receptor Antagonist with Spasmolytic Property
Oxybutynin chloride is an antispasmodic, muscarinic antagonist. It binds to M3 muscarinic receptors on the muscle of the bladder, preventing acetylcholinergic activation and relaxing the smooth muscle. In clinical, oxybutynin hydrochloride has been widely used for treating overactive bladder. Oxybutynin contains one asymmetric center, and the activity resides predominantly in the R-enantiomer. (The product is for research purpose only.)
