Application
Trimethylsilylating Reagent for GC Derivatization
Trimethylsilylation of Amino Acids1-4): 100 mol% excess of TMS-DEA (usually 1.5-2.0 mL) is added to a sample and is heated to reflux, which subsequently resulted in a transparent solution (it is preferable to remove the resulting diethylamine by distillation). After cooling, it is diluted with benzene to a proper concentration to use directly as a GC sample. If a catalytic amount of TMCS or trichloroacetic acid is added, better results are acquired. This method is also applicable to samples other than amino acids.
