Atorvastatin Lactone: An Inactive Metabolite of Atorvastatin
Atorvastatin lactone is an inactive metabolite of atorvastatin [A2476] which is an inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase used to lower blood cholesterol levels. Reportedly, atorvastatin lactone prevents inhibition of P-glycoprotein in a concentration-dependent manner.
