(-)-Terpinen-4-ol: A Monocyclic Monoterpene with Antibacterial and Antifungal Effects
Terpinen-4-ol is a monocyclic monoterpene component of essential oils obtained from several aromatic plants, and reportedly has an antibacterial and antifungal effect. Terpinen-4-ol is an enantio-mixture of the dextro-rotatory (+)-terpinen-4-ol [T2581] and the levo-rotatory (-) form, and both have a similar potency in the activities, as of now.
