Oseltamivir Acid: An Active Metabolite of Oseltamivir
Oseltamivir acid (GS 4071, Ro 64-0802) is an active metabolite of oseltamivir [O0591], which is a selective inhibitor of influenza virus neuraminidase that interferes with the release of viral particles from infected host cells. Oseltamivir is rapidly converted by hepatic esterases to the active metabolite, oseltamivir acid. It has high bioavailability and penetrates sites of infection at concentrations sufficient to inhibit viral replication. (The product is for research use only.)
