TCI Practical Example: Trifluoromethylthiolation Reaction Using Silver(I) Trifluoromethanethiolate
Trifluoromethylthiolating Agent Usable for Direct Dehydroxytrifluoromethylthiolation of Alcohols
Experimental procedure

3 (251 mg, 1.2 mmol, 3.0 eq.) and
TBAI (1330 mg, 3.6 mmol, 9.0 eq.) are combined in a Schlenk tube. The tube is mounted with a reflux condenser and backfilled with N
2, then toluene (4.0 mL) and alcohol (0.4 mmol, 1.0 eq.) are added. The tube is placed into a preheated oil bath at 80 °C with vigorous stirring. After 10 h, the reaction mixture is cooled to room temperature and filtered through a plug of silica (eluted with EtOAc). The filtrate is concentrated, and the product is purified by column chromatography on silica gel to give the desired product.
