Ursolic Acid: A Pentacyclic Triterpenoid with Diverse Biological Activities
Ursolic acid is a pentacyclic triterpenoid found in many plants, such as Mirabilis jalapa. It has been reported that ursolic acid is one of the plant-based metabolites having multiple intracellular and extracellular targets that play role in apoptosis, metastasis, angiogenesis and inflammatory processes. Therefore, ursolic acid has diverse biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antibacterial and anti-hyperlipidemic properties. For your reference, the 3-ketone derivative is ursonic acid [O0508] which is used as a starting compound for synthesis of bioactive derivatives. (The product is for research purpose only)
