Wogonin: An O-Methylated Monoflavonoid with Various Bioactivities

Wogonin is an O-methylated monoflavonoid found in Scutellaria baicalensis which is one of the most popular and multi-purpose herb used in China traditionally for treatment of various diseases^1,2). Wogonin is also one of the active ingredients of Sho-Saiko-To, a Japanese herbal supplement³⁾. It has been reported that wogonin exerts anti-oxidant¹⁾, anti-cancer⁴⁾, anti-inflammatory^4,5), anti-viral^4,6) and neuroprotective effects⁷⁾. For your reference, a glycoside of wogonin is wogonoside [W0012]. (The product is for research purpose only.)
