Xyloglucan oligosaccharides 1 and 2 are obtained from tamarind seed gum using the method developed by Mitsuishi.1,2) Xyloglucans are key polymers found in the walls of growing plant cells. Therefore, much study has been placed in the plant metabolism in differentiation and morphogenesis including plant physiology. These xyloglucan oligosaccharides are the active ingredients for inducing phytoalexin.
Xyloglucan oligosaccharides 1 and 2 are commercially useful compounds, and applied in various area. These compounds are currently utilized as a biotic pesticide. They are also used as an agent to maintain plant freshness, a coating agent for seeds as well as a capsule material for synthetic seeds.3)
